City of Bee Cave Hosts Second Annual Books & Bees Festival April 1st & 2nd
The City of Bee Cave is excited to announce its second annual Books and Bees Festival, which this year will be a two-day event. Come on out to the Hill Country Galleria on April 1st for a full day of author readings, panels, interactive activities, bee education, free wildflower seeds and more!
This unique book festival celebrates local bestselling authors as well as the beauty of the Hill Country and its ecosystem. This year’s festival includes 20 authors, from New York Times bestselling thriller writers Jeff Abbott and Meg Gardiner to tween and teen panels and acclaimed children’s authors with fun and interactive activities. Story lovers of all ages will have opportunities to meet incredible authors, learn how to compose stories themselves and try out their hand at illustrating.
The bee and nature education tents will include interactive exhibits including beekeeper suits, model hives, “can you guess the animal” x-rays and more. Free wildflower seeds will be on hand while supplies last for visitors to get started on their own natural garden to help Bee Cave’s honorary resident, the bee, and fellow pollinators.
The Bee Cave Public Library will also set up a children’s activity tent with many different crafts kids can take home–bee-themed of course! There will also be visits from Bee Cave’s mascot, Buzzy the Bee, literary darling Winnie the Pooh, and a special guest from Encanto!
The festival opens to the public at 12:30 p.m., with a special reading by Buzzy the Bee and ends at 4:30 p.m., following a concert by beloved children’s singer, Lucas “The Singing Zoologist” Miller.
Austin’s favorite meteorologist Jim Spencer will emcee the event and there may even be an appearance by canine T.V. star Kaxan (who just “paw”blished a book of his own!).
As a gift from the event’s headline sponsor, Keystone Bank, the first 25 attendees to arrive and who pre-registered through the Books & Bees Festival Eventbrite link, will receive a special limited-edition Buzzy the Bee plushie and book. Limit one per family. Additional sets will be available for purchase.
Books from the featured authors will also be available for purchase on site through Barnes & Noble, as well as branded merchandise that you can only get once a year at the festival.
On Sunday, April 2nd, the Books and Bees Festival continues with Honeyfest!
This day will feature a honey tasting contest, local authors, and a special bee-themed farmer’s market. Arrive early for balloon artists.
Sponsors include the City of Bee Cave Economic Development Corporation, Keystone Bank, Friends of the Bee Cave Public Library, Hill Country Galleria, Raising Cane’s, Acton Academy of Bee Cave, Learning Express, Bees-for-All, American Bee Journal and more.
