Use this guide to determine whether your event is classified as a Minor or Major Special Event. This will help you complete the correct application and checklist.
How to Determine Your Event Type:
If ANY of these apply, your event is a MAJOR Special Event:
- More than 75 attendees at one time
- Requires off-site parking
- Involves street closures
- Requires City services (police, traffic control)
- Includes stages, or temporary structures
- Extends beyond 8pm
If NONE of the above apply:
Your event is likely a MINOR Special Event. Please procceed to the appropriate checklist below.
The City reserves the right to classify any event as a Major Special Event based on safety, traffic, or operational impacts. If you have any questions, please reach out to [email protected]. Please be aware all special event applications must be submitted via Mygovermentonline and within 45 days before the event.
